Prep post

description: the first few weeks of term 4 we have been working on Prep witch is preparing for market day on friday the 11 of november 2016. We had a slide were we could write our ideas, thoughts and the things we would need. We had to work in groups of three m group was me, Harriet, Eila and Amanda. Amanda is a new student at russell street so we invited into our group.

Math P.A.T Test Result

Description: A couple weeks a ago we did some end of year P.A.T tests and today we got our results from our math teacher James and in his group we are expected to be in the Stanine 7,8,9. So here is a picture of my result.

In the end I got seven incorrect questions most being on the number strategies section, and I got a high Stanine eight right on the line between the nine and eight woo! When I was doing the test i thought I was going to do horribly and turns out I was wrong!!!

Persuasive Writing term 4

Description: these first few weeks of term 4 we have been working on persuasive writing, to persuade people to buy our product from market day this Friday. I worked on an radio ad with Emma O we sadly couldn't upload our ad so here is our script. We needed to make an ad about a small box and we could do anything to make it awesome!


Feedback: Great script! I can tell your tone was really excited like! 
Feedforward:Maybe next time you could be more dramatic about it!

Evaluation: I think Emma and I did well on making our ad persuasive but next I think we could add some humour to make it more interesting.

Calendar Art T3

Description: this term we have been working on art for our colanders for 2017! This piece down below is the piece I worked on, the rest of the class worked on different pieces but the same style. Suzanne helped us. We used Eric Carl as inspiration for our art, our art is based on the drunkards pattern that people use with fabric but we used paper. What we had to do was texturise some paper with paint and using a pencils make small designs on a different piece of paper then we used a reference picture to base our art from.

Evaluation: I think I did well this time by finishing early and I think it looks great! Next time I think I could work on making the pieces join together more evenly giving it an nice finish

ET Reo P.P term 3

Description:this term in ET Reo we have been learning about whakatauki. A whakatauki is a saying or a quote like 'He aha te mea nui o te ao? He tangata, He tangata, He tangata.' which in English is 'what is the most important thing in the world? The people, The people, The people.' And so this is my post about what I did for this whakatauki. We decided to make a portrait of someone we would like to meet most in the world. I had a bit of trouble deciding who i want to meet most out of: Matthias, PrestonPlayz and Knuckles from sonic x (what's wrong! I'm allowed to like sonic!) but eventually i choose Matthias.

Here is a photo of the picture i referenced off, the picture basically finished(i got plenty of time but i was able to finish all i needed to do was cut Matthias out.) and the picture of all the people that did get theirs finished on the wall.

Week Two D.T

Today for D.T I did sketching again but by the time we did this I happened to really get into the cartoon sonic x a.k.a sonic the hedgehog so basically all my sketches are of some of the characters from the show and games, and today I learnt that sketching tilted heads are really hard and that trying again made it easier so it turned alright in the end. My goal now is to sketch full bodies with hands and feet.

SLCT216 reflection

Yesterday I had my student led conference and shared my learning with my father today I was asked to  reflect on my SLC and was asked some questions.

1) How do you think you did on your SLC? What was the highlight?

I think my student led conference went great and the highlight was getting my report and reading it over with dad.

2) What did you do differently to make your SLC stand out?

I explained the posts that i got to choose for my student led conference.

3) How will you make your Home Led Conference in Term 3 be awesome? What things might you do to make it awesome?

To make it awesome I want to share my learning with my grandparents as well and make a celebratory cake afterwards.

Sea Turtle writing

Description: For writing this term, we were told to watch this video and make a piece of nonfiction writing with a paragraph of each fact.

Here is the video that we had to watch.

as you can see there is a lot of info that we had to put into writing, but we got facts that we heard the person say in this video.

here is my writing so far.

Sea Turtles

Turtles. Sea Turtles live in a dark watery
 abyss, also known as the ocean. This is called a habitat, its called a habitat because that is their home or where they live like we live in a house that is our habitat. The ocean is their habitat because that's where they thrive. They live there because their food lives in the ocean.

Sea Turtles have been around since the late Jurassic, roughly 150 million years ago! WOW Sea Turtles are old! Sea turtles have lived this long because they are smart and have good protection on their backs known as shells. Although now that humans are around the Sea Turtles are becoming extinct because of pollution and food.

When Sea Turtles lay eggs they lay them in a pit in the sand to protect the eggs then the mother leaves never to be seen again. The mother lays about 1000 eggs! How you ask? Let me tell you something interesting… I don't know!!!

Te Reo term two

For Te Reo this term we had to make a game to help learn the items on this photo. I made some flash cards with my buddy Emma O. 

Here is a few pictures of the process we took to make these cards and some instructions if you want to male some too.

Step 1)  get a large piece of blank paper or card

Step 2) draw even lines on the paper make sure the squares (or rectangles) are big enough to fit the words and small enough to fit enough squares to fit all your words (you might need to get two pieces of paper/card)

Step 3) write the words down! (make sure to spell the words correctly!)

Step 4) then cut them out (BE CAREFUL YOU MIGHT CUT YOURSELF!!!)

Step 5) draw on the back what the words mean and the word just In case the people playing can't guess what the drawing is

For this task we could research anything we wanted but were needed to take notes about what your researching. Im researching the history of sketching.

Evaluation: this term I think I have learned a lot in Bookapidea. I personally think that summarizing was the hardest because its hard to remember everything and wrote the sentence in your own words.
I also think skimming and scanning is the easiest because your quickly looking over the page for facts to write down ( or you just want to become smart ;). ) next time I think we should work on summarizing the most. Devin

Science 1

For the first three weeks of science I did seed2table and the science was growing plants but changing the way you do it. For me I changed the temperature  of the water from 38 degrees to 6 degrees. I did this with partners Telaina and Emma M. We needed to put our info into a slide.

Feedback: I liked how changed the temperature to see what plants did grow.
Feedforward: maybe next time you could try two things. Give it water and the temperature.

Evaluation: I think that we had a good idea to change the temperatures of the water to see what temperature would help the plant grow the most next time we could choose different plants to see which one grows better.

Math 1,2,3 & 4

Description: so for math we need to make blog posts on what we did that day in math, I haven't been doing that because I don't have time because I'm to involved my math so here what I've been doing for the past few weeks.

Math portfolio post term 2

Description: this week for math James's math groups had to make somthing like a quiz, Kahoot etc
For other people in James's groups to do. I decided to do a Kahoot with Patrick but.......... we haven't finished it yet heh heh, but I shall take one photo only for a sneak peak on the questions.

We added in some divided by 5 questions because that's what we were learning about at that time 
I learnt that its easier to divide by 5 by dividing by 10 first if you divide by 10 then double the answer then you get the answer for e.g 345 divided by 5.

Feedback: I like how you and Patrick used easy, medium and hard so that people can know where they are up to in their maths.
Feedforward: You could say what you learnt during this task? Telaina 

Evaluation: I think that when Patrick and I started this task that we wobbled a little for what questions  we could use and how we should grade them easy,medium or hard now we've got the hang of it and were aiming to have a really great Kahoot? Next time I think we could add some really easy questions so people can still work on them if they forgot the easy facts. Devin

Writing priority

Description: for our writing priority Emma o and I did the dice game here is how we played emma wrote a different story from me but its still great so check out her blog to see her story.There was dice1 and dice2 up on the board, in the column dice 1. We had to have 2 dice and one person had to roll one Dice and the other person had to roll the other dice, then whatever number got you would have to write a sentence being that thing

Sarah platt buddy art

Description: we had to do some art with our buddie class last term. We had a little square to enlarge by drawing it out then making it colourful by using paints,pastels,coloured pencils,dye and collage.

Evaluation: When my buddy I and worked on our square we used colored pencil and pastels my 
buddy worked on most of the pastel part and I worked on most of the pencil part. When we were doing this art my buddy frustrated me a lot because she pressed really hard with my pencils and nearly ruined them other than that I think my sqaure turned out really well, and now when its all put together it look great!

Chapter 1 my name is

YAY! Kayaking is next, my favourite activity I'm the pro at this, too bad the Uni bully is in my activity group, sigh. I just can't wait to see the tiny squids dancing around in the water. Luckily I brought my gopro with me so I can email Spence and Noah the video since they can't come on camp with us. Oh by the way I'm Joseph Garrett. I'm in university, You also may know me as the great stampylonghead, one of the most famous youtubers. I'm not the most famous, Pewdiepie is and my gosh he is annoying, he is the bully of this university. Hopefully he'll learn at least some manners on this camp. His girlfriend Marzia is one of the kindest people in uni! But Jess is kinder ahhhhh Jess, I have a huge crush on her, like HUGE! She is also a youtuber. She is often referred as aphmau but pewds calls her aphmoo, implying that she's FAT! Rude right? And I think she likes me to! I can't bear to even think about it. Oops everyone's leaving!

Chapter 2 Inked

Life jacket check, go pro check, water proof cam check. OK! I have everything I need for kayaking yay! Insructor Beth ”hello and welcome to kayaking. Is there anyone who has done this before and would like to help me teach?” Ooh me me “okay stampy.” YAY! “ great go and get an instructors paddle please. ”Ok. Pewdiepie ”nerd hahahaha” “what's your name?” “Pewdiepie but you can just call me pewds hottie.” “oh hahahah you are horrible at flirting and shut up, I come from your uni I still go there but for this trip ONLY, I am an INSTUCTOR got it. My name is Beth a.k.a squaishey I'm friends with Joseph and a youtuber.” Woofles “YOU JUST GOT OWNED BY A GIRL,I'M TELLIN MARZIA AND I FILMED IT ALL!” “ nuuuuu marzia will kill me I will Neva bully again i so sorry Beth” 1 hour later…... okay I have got my cam set up 30 mins to teach and 30 mins to set up my underwater live cam. Time to hop into the water on my kayak ahh this is great actually Beth got me thinking what happens in a girls cabin? Maybe...SPLASH  AHH I can't see the squids inked my eyes ohh here comes Jess and Beth together “ come on Jess lets go help him” said Beth “ yeah he's covered in ink” “ hey are you alright?” Says Jess and Beth together u.u.ummm yeah s.s.s.o.omeone p.u.ushed me “ ugh I hate Pewdiepie he calls me fat he is the worst” says jess. Jess could you help me get the ink out of my eyes and turn under water cam off, squaishey can you do that for me please “sure” * looking around for somthing* h.HEY! where has my g.GoPro gone oh no. “ It's okay Joseph I can get you a new one” thanks Jess um is it alright if I call you Aphmau? “ yeah sure but do not call me Aphmoo” no I won't hahaha “ HEY STAMPS! I got your waterproof live stream cam but it's covered in ink, I did turn it off though somehow” I should put my glasses on and wash the camera off ms instructor can I go rest? “ yes you may hehehe” “um by Joseph” said Aphmau.

Feedback: That's a very cool and funny story! It made me giggle! I dont think other people will know all this if they haven't seen squaishey and stampy's and aphmow and other people's videos. It's good you explained it. AbbyY

Evaluation: I think this is one of my best story's yet. It will include all the you tubers I love. I think next time I could make the chapters way more interesting

description: this week we have been learning about I statements. An I statement is when you say when ever someone has ticked you off or made you feel sad and you deal with it like this... "you can't play ugh" says your friend "I feel sad that I can't play because I have no one else to play with so I thought that I could play with you." "Oh i'm sorry I didn't mean to hurt you okay you can play"  the more hurtful way to do it is ( I don't recommend doing this) "you cant play" WHY CANT I PLAY? YOU'RE MEAN!!!!!!"
